I sense a twinkle in the eye, a gem meant quite seriously, and the euphoria inbetween, the lightness, the smile, the devotion to the minutiae, the stormy urgency and the unconditional desire.
I hear reason and the hovering between one door and the next, and then the letting go of all restraint, the drawing from the full. The unsaid is brought to life, sound breathed into the in-between world. Finally, the drifting between possibility and possibility, and listing old possibilities and opening up new ones and making further possibilities possible and bringing other impossibilities into conversation.
I hear contradictions and windows of sound, speckled speechlessness alongside a towering abundance of words. I hear strangely familiar melodies, or did I merely dream of them?
Then suddenly one of the windows of sound opens, quite unexpectedly behind it.
luftgefaltet is the first album by the improvising duo Süß Studer.

…L’art du contraste, mais aussi confrontation de l’intime, un fil de voix dévidant une poésie intériorisée. Le contrebassiste multipliant les émotions, les sons divergents et les dynamiques alors que la voix dérape, s’insurge, bruite, bruissone, ou vibre lointaine sur une seule note ou presque en modulant l’intonation, le timbre fragile, ou inspire …. Et leurs étalements successifs de voies et de voix improvisées assurent de fécondes narrations dont le sort et leur issue évolue du tout au tout tout au long de leurs duos. Aucune lassitude , répétition ou redite, mais un renouvellement constant d’idées de textes, de mots chantés ou parlés, de vocalises et de sons / actions à la contrebasse. Aussi « improvisation abstraite » introspective que babil poétique émotionnel , tous deux dans l’instant, les deux approches s’enrichissent et s’éclairent mutuellement avec le plus grand naturel.
